Pine Mountain Club General Information
Pine Mountain Club is a planned recreational community created by Tenneco Corporation in the early 1970's. It is a scenic private community located in a beautiful wooded mountain valley with tall pine trees and magnificent views. P.M.C. is privately owned by the property owners and is virtually surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest. Our community is composed of 3200 acres with approximately 3,000 buildable lots and some 2200 acres set aside permanently as open space for the exclusive enjoyment of property owners and their guests. Approximately 2100 homes have been built giving us a fulltime population of around 2500.
Many property owners use their homes as weekend get-aways while an increasing number of families are finding living here fulltime to be their preference. Many folks commute daily to work in Bakersfield, Santa Clarita and even Los Angeles. Pine Mountain Club is not a tourist area but a four season recreational community where natural beauty and splendor make it an attractive place to live or visit. Even on weekends the population increases by only about 20%.
There are a variety of affordable accommodations (vacation rentals and a three room hotel) for visitors and a charming village center where visitors can shop and eat. There is a grocery store, bakery, hardware store, restaurants, video store, fitness center, church, and post office. Recreational opportunities abound. Just step out of your home and take a walk in the forest, maybe choose one of our many hiking trails, go mountain biking or go camping at a nearby campsite. Our altitude being above the smog and fog and our low population makes this an excellent area for star gazing.
In the winter you can cross country ski or sled in the gleaming snow. We have a beautiful nine-hole golf course, lighted tennis courts, a swimming pool, an equestrian center; and a park with a softball field, basketball court, picnic area, volleyball court and playground. Many homes and lots are now available for resale at affordable prices compared to other areas in California. We have a large variety of homes from small to large, cabin to contemporary. Many of our homes have a feeling of privacy and magnificent views. All property owners are members of the Property Owners Association, have a voice in the administration of Pine Mountain Club, and enjoy the benefits of P.M.C.'s facilities and services. Our elevation ranges from 5100-7100 feet. Our snowfall is 1 inch to 3 feet per snowfall; averaging 12 times a year and can occur as early as October and as late as May. The snow usually melts away in a few days at the lower levels.
